This Candlelight Fund has been set up in loving memory of Marjorie Greenhalgh by her granddaughter, Barbara. For the last few years, instead of physical gifts Nanna always used to tell us to give money instead 'to the poor children'. When she asked why on earth God still was so keen for her still to be around after 105 years, I used to tell her it was because of all the good works she was doing as her family members gave to various charities and good causes in her name every birthday and Christmas. So this seems an appropriate way to remember her very long and loving life, and for her life to carry on contributing to building a better world. I picked CAFOD because she supported them all her life through the church. And people from her local church supported her through her life too, and when she could no longer go in person, they visited and prayed with her every week in her flat and finally in the nursing home in the last few months. Having worked for CAFOD I still support their approach to local partnering with organisations of all faiths and none, and to campaigning for justice.
